How does that saying go about one person’s misfortune blah blah blah another person’s good fortune or something?  Anyway, Adele toured her 21 album in 2011 but was forced to postpone a lot of it because of extreme laryngitis.  After months of vocal rest, she made up the Vancouver show on August 9 which was great for me as ticketmaster released more tickets for sale and I was quick to snap one up…for $69!  A funny thing happened between the tour announcement in 2010 and the make-up date in August of 2011 - the 21 album went from a modest hit to a cultural phenomenon, and by the time her Vancouver show came around, the album and it’s lead single were both (STILL) #1 on the Hot 100, and it’s second single, Someone Like You, would hit #1 three weeks after our show.
Adele took to the Orpheum stage (a 2,500 seater - keep in mind the album wasn’t a runaway when the venues were booked) to a long, well-deserved standing ovation and blew us away from note one.  She talked at length about her vocal problems and said “I thought I was never gonna come back”.  And she kinda didn’t; after our show, she played a few others and then scrapped the remainder of the tour to undergo surgery.
This is taken by me from the 16th row.  More to come.
